Beautiful productions! by suzanne l. at InsiderPages
The LA Opera has lavish productions of many wonderful and classic operas. Placidio has really nurtured the opera and they are doing some amazing things. The Opera is still very traditional and has not done anything cutting edge like the Phil, but it is still a beautiful cultural experiance. The Dorothy CHandler is a beautiful place. Parking is $8. They have some nice places to eat there, but they are pricey.

fabulous! by Andrea B. at InsiderPages
I've seen Der Rosenkavelier and Pagliacci in the 2005 season of the Los Angeles Opera and I loved it. There are supertitles above the stage so anybody can translate the dialogue to English, whether from German to Italian. There are rush tickets sold the day of the opera for $20 for ful-time students and seniors. The Dorothy Chandler Pavillion is a great place to showcase these fantastic operas that withstand the test of time and it's always fun to dress up for the show! From tickets as cheap as $35, everybody can experience the beauty of this art.

PROS: a beautiful experience

Best opera! by S N. at InsiderPages
I bought two tickets to see Romeo and Juliette for my wife and I this Valentine's Day and we had the best time. The opera singers were extremely talented and professional. My wife and I have been to numerous other operas before and this one was one of the best. We are definitely planning on going to a few more this year. Worth a try!
