London's West End, or "The West End" is a true dive. Revel in it's awesomeness. Just remember before you come here, that its cash only. If you forget, you can get cash back from the Albertsons across the street. Value is key here; One of the bartenders remarked "We don't serve doubles here" after a friend ordered a drink and she looked him right in the eyes as she poured a cocktail with as heavy a hand as you will see. This place is open at 6am, I often see the regulars having a smoke break outside as I drive to work. It's slow throughout the week, and pretty busy on weekend nights. Jukebox, pool, stanky bathrooms, pinball, a punching bag that costs a dollar, and snacks behind the bar, it's got all the dive bar accoutrements. This place is not classy, but thats no reason not to check it out. If you're interested in a little La Jolla lore check out the articles about the Mac Meda Destruction company across from the pool table. On the weekends this place is loud and packed to the gills with budget minded drunks. It's usually pretty easy to get a cab out front, and they recently added a hot dog cart. I recommend the Pavlov Dog, you will only order it after a few drinks and you should probably visit your cardiologist afterwards, but try it!
