Feels kinda like a proper living room
I stop in here every once in a while if I have a few spare minutes before I need to pick my daughter up from school. They have proper antique like living/dining room furniture in there which gives the place a cozy feel like there should be an actual fire burning in a fire place. The coffee and food are fine, not remarkable. When I'm in there, mid morning/early afternoonish, it's never too crowded.

The staff is pretty nice though they seem to stick behind the counter. I never go upstairs but you can if you want more peace and quiet.

Of course, they have free WiFi. You used to need a code for it, but not anymore.

The Living Room
This adorable two story cafe is open from 6am to 2am, making it one of the best places to go at any time of the day. Since it is in the heart of La Jolla, it is one of the best places to go to late at night. Besides having a gorgeous view of the ocean, The Living Room Coffee House has pretty much anything you could ever want when it comes to food and drink. Some of the most popular cafe drinks include the Milky Way Mocha, the California Mocha, and even their standard brewed coffee. The manager, Rita, explains that they brew their coffee, which is a European blend, every 10 minutes, and it is always fresh and delicious. In addition to their cafe drinks, they offer a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu as well as smoothies, wine and beer. If that weren't enough, they also have an array of desserts made by a Swiss chef, and also a full bar. Upstairs there is a hookah lounge, ocean room, and cigar room. So whether you want an early morning coffee or a late night cocktail, The Living Room has quality beverages and food that will satisfy any craving.

Spacious Place to Hang Out
I have been to the Living Room a Couple of Times. It's nice for the UCSD students to get out of campus and to explore downtown La Jolla. The Living Room is the perfect place to grab a drink or a dessert and just be able to sit down and chat with friends. There's also an upstairs, so there is really a lot of space. I see a lot of people studying or working on their computers here at the Living Room as well. The Living Room is not far from restaurants in the area and some good shopping. There are also hotels nearby as well as a park for strolling around and admiring the ocean.

Decent late night coffee house
I have been here a few times and the waiting time is a little longer than expected, parking is non existant, cakes and coffee is decent , a tad pricey , sucks that you cant sit outside without inhaling all the 2nd hand smoke, at lease you get to sit out there on Prospect and watch the crowds walk by.

Living Room
This place seems like its a great place because its always packed at night, but the fact is that their coffee and their hookahs are really expensive. For example, an iced non-fat latte is like 4.50 and a hookah comes out to around 20 which is a ton. Its okay for once in a while because it does have a pretty good vibe and has a great location right by the cove. Although it does get busy because there is nothing for people under 21 to do in La Jolla at night. If you come with friends to chill and catch up im sure its fine.
