I love this restaurant! Great food and the sushi is the BEST around! Always fresh!

They have very good and fresh sushi and sashimi. They even have live lobster, soft shell crab, sea urchin and much more.

I've lived in SD for 25 years and as a lover of Japanese food have never found a better place! Not in LA's Little Tokyo where I worked for 15 years, nor in SF where I grew up or in Nyc where I lived for 11 years before coming here.

I love their large salmon sashimi plate. It is always fresh and has very thick slices. Their combo plates are very filling too. The spicy scallop roll is SO GOOD! Definitely worth the money.

My friends all have recommended this place and I had high expectations. I finally made my way to the restaurant, only to be left disappointed. I tried their teryaki bowl and it was mediocre. I found the miso soup to be a little bland and the salad dressing a little watery. I'm also a big fan of sushi and I was disappointed in their sushi bar. The prices were a little over the top for eight pieces of sushi. They averaged $11.

However, the service was good. My server was friendly and made sure our dishes were what we ordered.

Overall, if you're craving good sushi, I would recommend Shogun.
