Don't take your stuff here unless they just minor stuff that you can get done at a drycleaning....I brought my Richard Tyler skirt there and I was quoted $60. So okay by me .....but they sat on it for 6 weeks and then called me and asked/demanded that I come in to pay them 1/2 because it is such a big job! It was just $60! The point was that they did not ask for 1/2 down when I dropped it off! They told me it was a big job so it wil take them a couple weeks and they called after a couple weeks and say it will take longer and 6 wks later they wanted 1/2 down. It turns out they have not even started on the work!

Nothing but good experiences
In regard to the previous comments from Friendly Guy: I find this somewhat surprising. I have taken my clothes to Allure Alterations for almost two years and I have had nothing but good experiences. The customer service is extremely polite and their work is always efficient and professional.
Their prices may seem higher, but most of the other tailor shops in the area are even higher and I found that the quality at the other shops did not seem to measure up to the quality that I found at Allure. After all, this is an inner loop shop so it costs a little more for the convenience.
I've never had a bad experience there out of the dozen of so times that I've been there, so I don't know how they handle complaints, but I've never known them to be anything but nice, polite, professional, and extremely helpful. So, after reading your complaints, I am willing to bet there are two sides to the story.

Guarantee? Highest prices guaranteed! BEWARE.
I've been looking for alterations closer to home and decided to try Allure based on the number and strength of the reviews posted.
I was surprised at the behavior of management when compared to the reviews I read. After careful re-reading, it is my best guess that Allure has posted many of these reviews themselves in order to drum up business to replace the stream of customers lost by shoddy work and poor customer service.

The prices seemed a bit high to me, but when asked, they said the price includes a satisfaction guarantee. Reassured, I proceed to leave a few garments to have simple things done. The first few came back done reasonably well. By no means were they done very well, but I did not figure they would ruin other clothes so I took in some more. This time the fabric was a bit more delicate and the work required more skill.

Once again, the garment was ready when promised, but frankly, did not look right. When I asked about it you would have thought that I had cursed the family. No matter how nicely or politely I attempted to address the issue, management was rude, condescending, and abusive. It was appalling to see a seemingly nice person (when the clothes were dropped off) turn into a mindless screaming banshee when gently asked about obvious defects in the work.
If you decide to take your clothes there, I hope you have better luck.

The Allure “guarantee” guarantees that you will pay the highest possible price for shoddy alterations whether you like them or not.

Nice Work -
I bought two jeans and a suit from the Galleria and clerk recommended that I take these items to Allure for alterations. I spent close to $900.00 total for these items and mentioned it in passing to person working the store. I told her that I would be flying back to New York in seven (7) days and needed the suit for a function the next day. The jeans needed to be hemmed. To my surprise, all the items were ready the next day and the hems were consistent. Suit fitted nicely. The problem was that she wanted to charge me $450.00 for the alterations. I thought that was a bit high and she mentioned that her workers had to work overnight and around the clock to get my clothes ready. Feeling guilty, I gave up arguing about the bill and saw some tired faces on the seamstress in the back area. Anyways, I had tailored jeans and a suit to wear while I was in Houston and will proudly take it home with me back to New York. Honestly, I was hoping the charges would be more reasonable.
