Prescribing Too Much Medicines
For the past year my sister and I are very concern with our Mother so frequently visiting Leon Medical. It seems that Leon Medical has a common practice cold calling these patients so they can constantly visit their doctors. We have both made a very serious observation with the amount of medicines that our Mother has been pescribed within a period of 14 months. She has taken over 18 different types of meds, including a memory prevention medecine without the proper evaluation from a neuroligist. Our parents love this place but unfortunately they are at a time in life that understanding something is wrong here is just not possible. Our objective is to monitored what meds they are prescribed and consult with other doctors that are not related to this organization. We decided to let everyone evaluating Leon or reading these remarks be aware. We have other family memebers that have also experienced remarkable and similar problems. Monitored your family from this wonderful and such service oriented facility. This administration has created a perception beyong the Medical Care in the United States.

A bad joke on the elderly
I went to this site in hopes of finding someone to contact about my mother. Since I haven't found one yet I decided to write my own review. First I will say, God help any American who happens into this place - my prayers are with you. This place looks very nice on the outside but that is a just a mask covering what really goes on in this place. They have so called Doctors who are hired by this Co. who barely passed their finals or have taken the exam multiple times. In other words these are D - Doctors. What burns me most is these elderly patients who go there are in no shape to come back multiple times for days on end. They should access & complete the reason for the visit in one visit instead of day after day after day of trips back to the center for something that should & could be taken care of in one visit. This place certainly looks to be a huge con & money pit for the sate of Florida & the U.S.A.

Clinica Leon W Hialeah
It's like everything else, if you don't speak up, things won't happen. I realize that in a medical facility it shouldn't be that way, but it is. My father and my aunt go to the doctor and don't tell them what is going on with them because they FEEL it isn't important to tell. We are working with elderly people that either don't remember or are embarrased to say something is wrong for they consider it private. A family member should accompany the geriatric patient to speak up for them. One of my elderly goes to see the psychiatrists and tells him everything is fine, when it's not so. They will only answer questions. The doctors are not mind readers. If you can't accompany your loved one, write a list of symptoms or make a phone call. Would you let your 5 year old go to the doctor by himself? Well the same applies here. The elderly are from another generation, they embarrass easily and are very coy. Remember that doctors only act on what they are told. Otherwise, the facility in W Hialeah is beautiful and the attendants are very cordial and helpfull. Not once did I hear a sarcastic remark or one of them get out of hand. The busses are airconditioned and the drivers are very respectful and amiable.

Avoid at all cost
I just took my grandparents out of Leon for more reasons than I can name. They entered this hmo 2 yrs ago and at first things were good. Not long after things began to deteriorate. My grandfather has had Leukemia for over a decade but was fine. He had a decent oncologist at the beginning but, w/o telling us, they switched him to. Since then he's gotten worse. A year ago his white cell count was slightly lower than before. The oncologist decided to put him on chemotherapy. I had my doubts about putting an 87 yr old man on chemo but the doctor assured my family that this was best. When they arrived for the first session the doctor had just returned from vacation and hadn't even done the dosage calculations for the first session. Soon after he developed what we thought was pneumonia. He had to be hospitalized 3 times in 2 months for it until one of the doctors (not from Leon) looked his chart over and realized that he did not have pneumonia but had bronchitis. The 2 illnesses are different from each other and how it gets misdiagnosed three times I don't know but as a result of giving him so much of the wrong antibiotic and then having to switch to the right medicine, he got much worse. Nevermind that we had begged to get him seen by a pulmonologist before hand. Things steadily got worse. He can no longer walk and recently they switched his doctor again without letting us know. He fell the other day and we did X-rays to see if there was any damage. It looks like his cancer has spread to his bones, something his oncologist should have run tests to see. Their doctor appts last a total of 5 mins & the doctor doesn't even physically examine them. Once my grandparents had back to back appts but because my grandfather's took 15 mins they didn't see her, though there was something wrong with her urine test and a cell count of her eye. In the end we switched them and things have improved a bit, not much b/c we think we did it too late but at least they have better care.

My father has terminal cancer with a slight change that he might survive. In the first WEEK knowing this they've cancelled chemotherapy 3 times!
