I purchased a necklace for my girlfriend's birthday last month at Leo's. She's definitely a jewelry nut and she's into old art/fashion styles. Well, I was thrilled to discover that they carry antique jewelry. Teri helped me pick out an authentic Art Deco diamond-platinum pendant for a great price. My girlfriend LOVES the piece and wears it all the time.
She told me she was very pleasantly surprised that I found something so fitting to her taste without any help. Truth is, I did have help. Teri helped me A LOT. Thanks Teri, you really helped me be the hero.
I have been a collector of antique jewelry for many, many years. Recently a friend of mine told me that I should go to Leo Hamel's and check out the selection of antique and estate jewelry. I had shopped at Leo's several years ago (when he was on El Cajon Blvd) and thought I would give them a try. Wow! I haven't seen a selection like that in a very long time. Leo now has four different locations that buy jewelry from people, and apparently most of what he buys ends up on the sales room floor. I could not believe the selection. He had jewelry from every era that I collect. The prices were amazingly reasonable! I had a question about an antique piece of jewelry and they had an expert come over from the buying office to talk to me about my question. I ended up buying it (of course) and have had to make of point of stopping back in every 2-3 weeks to see what is new. Leo puts out new stuff all the time. I just fell in love with this store!
Pros: Beautiful store, super friendly staff, best selection of antique and estate jewelry and watches I have found in San Diego.
Cons: I honestly can't think of any at this time.

I have never been interested in a jewelry store but as soon as a friend of mine mention how wonderful this place is and how friendly the people are, I thought I would check it out. Besides I had my moms' birthday on the way and thought, why not? I stopped by and I was amazed at everything, from the staff to the selection in quality, quantity and price, to the store itself! It is much better than going to the ones in the mall
Pros: I get free drinks!

I bought my wedding ring at Leo Hamel and the diamond fell out on my wedding day. They sent me another ring which was sized by them and so badly misshapen it didn't fit. My THIRD replacement ring (I haven't even had my FIRST anniversary yet!) just lost a diamond! I took it to a different jewelry store for an opinion. I was told that the prongs were barely there and that the company was being cheap on gold to hold in the diamonds and that I would always have this problem. They also thought that I was grossly overcharged. When I contacted Leo Hamel they told me "diamonds don't POP out for no reason" and that they "sell that ring all the time and no one else complains", Bottom line before even SEEING the ring they blamed ME! This place tries to pose as high class, but don't be fooled. The staff will lose all class once they've collected their money. YES they are super wonderful when your looking.. but if you ever have a problem Lisa will be the biggest bitch you ever met.
