Charging extra to develop with dust.
I have patronized this lab for about a year. As a photographer shooting medium format film, I have few development choices in Los Angeles. Laurel Photo is located not far from my home in Van Nuys, so I picked it for location and price. Recently, the owner developed 12 photos for me and scanned them. I was charged about $12 for these, which is maybe $5 cheaper than A&I. But when I looked at the scanned images, they were full of dust. Enormous, gigantic, egregious pieces of lint and flecks. I blamed myself for not "blowing" the camera beforehand. Yet, some photographer friends, who also shoot medium format, looked at the images and told me that the lab had screwed up. I went back to Laurel and the owner said that the dust DID COME FROM HIS LAB but that "I thought I told you that dust removal on 120 film was extra money!" He develops and scans 120, and happily charges his customers for dusty images that he claims "most people happily remove themselves". ...
