Gourmet Tacos?
TACO... TUESDAYS!!!!!

My friend and I came here [in a hurry] during their happy hour. We were catching a show at the San Diego Civic Theatre.

Boy was I happy I was introduced to this place. While the place was a little slow... I was happy about eating $2 gourmet tacos. I ordered the carnitas and later, the carne asada. My friend and I didn't realize the FROZEN margarita were $2 not the regular iced margaritas (those are $4) nonetheless, for a guy who can't handle mixed tequila drinks, I found them to be delicious. The tequila poppers were a bit strong for me so I was more than to give the rest to my friend for fear that I'd be sick during the show.

It did take awhile to get a food out considering we were worried we wouldn't make it back in time.

Carnitas: has a wonderful balance of heat from the sauce to the sweetness of the mango salsa. I loved it. And they were big tacos with a gordita like tortilla!

Carne Asada: I had a hankering for another taco and was worried that I wouldn't be able to get it in time before I had left and our bartender was kind enough to rush it for me. Points for that. The meat was chunky, none of that chopped up barely visible stuff. Unfortunately I didn't say anything for my friend. Sorry dude. I was freakin hungry and it was gooooooood! Yum. I believe this one had the sweetness from the pineapple. Or maybe my tastebuds were way off. Nonetheless, it was a great balance and A LOT.

Our server: I forgot his name, just really tall and brown hair. He shook our hand as soon as we were finished and leaving. Thats cool. You could tell the regulars cuz they already had the drinks ready for them as soon as they sat down. The place that knows your face. The female bartender was really helpful in the beginning and end when we were in a hurry. So props to her (sorry name isn't coming to mind).

Overall, this was a pleasant and surprising experience given the fact I was expecting to dislike them. Well, especially cuz I can't get enough of the 2 tacos for 99 cents at Jack In The Box. lol.

YUMMM YUMMMM!!! GO HERE!!!!
YUMYUMYUM!! This place is just tasty! After a hit and miss appetizer hunt in the gas lamp I cautiously walked into what turned out to be a mecca of awesomeness! For starters they serve you a corn balled typed bread that is just to die for! Sweet and yummy this perked my interest to look over the menu. I ordered my long standing staple at Mexican influenced eateries, steak fajitas. They were delicious! It was flavorful and cooked just right! I was in heaven! This treasure is located in the heart of downtown gas lamp so parking is near impossible but when you do finally find some, you'll be glad you did! I'll be going back here FOR SURE!!!

A Must!
THE best bang for your buck in all of downtown. You wont find a better happy hour anywhere. From 10 pm to midnight they have two dollar beers, one dollar tequila poppers, and some great five dollar appetizers. Two must-trys are the lobster taquitos and the nachos. The staff here are incredibly friendly and make everyone feel like regulars. I don’t think people have caught on to the great happy hour yet because it generally isn’t that crowded. For those who are there, it’s a good mix of young and old and all ethnicities. Oh, and did I mention the happy hour?

Best mexican in town
Las Hadas has brilliant specials every day of the week. The best value for money is probably Mondays. On Mondays they have margaritas for only one dollar. They are small but what can you expect for a dollar? They give you free corn balls that are sweet but made of corn served with a salsa and honey butter. They have a great happy hour with a variety of yummy foods for only five or six dollars. My personal favorite are the coconut shrimp. They are plump and delicious! The nachos and ceviche is also recommendable. This is definitely a great place to go for some reasonably priced food and drink!

The BEST Place in the Gaslamp
Seriously. I freakin love this place. The food quality is amazing, and it's all delicious. You never walk out of there feeling like you ate like a freaking famished beast with a fat plate of raw food in front of you either. It's just right.

The atmosphere is perfect too--it's really versatile. They have more intimate booths in the back, a bar on your right when you walk in, and across from that, a bunch of table seating. They can also clear out the middle to make it more dance floor status as well, as I noticed they turn up the music a bit on weekends for the dance crowd.

The bar is stocked with legit tequila, and although not too experienced in Margaritaland, i hate sweet ones that feel like you are drinking corn syrup--these margaritas are wonderful.

And when you go, you need to get the Bananzas for dessert. Trust me, just do it.

The owner is really nice, and he is always out front to shake your hand, and even does so when I pass by and see him. They have the BEST happy hour in town too--and Sundays is happy hour all day. I take my siblings there for a sick meal when they visit for the weekends cuz you can go get so much great quality food in a relaxed, but pretty nice environment for a great price. I absolutely love this place.
