One of the best dining experiences of my life
I recently had the pleasure of dining at La Provence, and it far exceeded my expectations. The service was impeccable, and the food was outstanding. The manager and chef both came out to greet us, and when my 9-month-old daughter became fussy (her schedule had been interrupted as we were from out-of-town), the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. They entertained her and walked around the restaurant, playing with her as if she were one of their own.
My husband ordered the filet of charolais beef, which was easily the best steak I've ever tasted. It was perfectly seasoned and melted in our mouths. I, meanwhile, ordered the trout in citrus brown butter sauce. I could taste every ingredient, and the fish was expertly prepared. We sampled three desserts on the chef's recommendation, our favorite being the bread pudding.
We have eaten at fine restaurants around the country, including other French inspired establishments such as Le Bernardin (NYC) and Le Bec Fin (Philadelphia), and of them all, La Provence was easily the best. The chef and waitstaff take such obvious pride in their food.
My only regret is that we ate there first when visiting New Orleans, because it set the bar so high that no other restaurant could come close to matching it for overall quality.
