La Foret, a french restaurant in a converted 1800's boarding house from the quicksilver mining days of New Almaden, serves up some tasty dishes the old miners couldn't have imagined in their wildest dreams. It sets on a creek bank in the forest. If someone in your party doesn't care for french menus, they will subsitute lobster or something so everyone is happy. Two favorite desserts are the cheesecake and souffle grand marnier.
