Outstanding Mexican Seafood by Tim B. at InsiderPages
Fish Tacos, Mariscos, seafood enchiladas, etc. Everything that I have eaten there is very good. The service has always been good. They have a small but attractive bar with many upper end tequilas and great margaritas. The services is very good. Prices are reasonable at less than $20 a plate before drinks. This was formerly a jazz bar, and it has hardwood floor with interior brick walls. Its a fun date place, but it is family friendly also. This place is one of our favorites!!!

Very Bad Dinner!
My experience at La Calle Doce was a huge let down. Our waiter got our drinks wrong to start. Margaritas were strong but that is probably to make you forget about the dreadful service, awful food and the lack of ambiance. Queso was a velveeta mixture...was hoping for something with a bit more flare. Enchiladas were run of the mill. A very basic strip mall mexican restaurant. I won't be going back when a fast food restaurant will give me the same quality including the attitude filled staff. Very unsatisfied!

Horrible experience, don't waste your time
We've had a few average dinners at La Calle Doce but after our last experience we will never dine there again. The front of house staff didn't greet us as we stood at the front entrance and then was sarcasticly rude when we asked if there was a wait. There were plenty of open tables and people waiting which tells me they don't know how to seat people and they don't know how to hire a reception staff...very annoying to wait for a table when i can see open tables in the dinning area. One of our dinners was incorrect and it took a very long time to get the right dinner out. It took just as long to get our check. Rude people, slow service and food not worth waiting for. Don't waste your time. Plenty of other great Mexican restaurants in Dallas.

Nice for enchiladas
We like to come here for lunch for a few reasons. First, not only do they have a special lunch menu, they also have daily specials on the board when you walk in, so be surenot to miss those. Service has always been very nice and attentive and the owner also makes sure the ship is running smoothly. Now, this is more of a Mex Mex spot, than Tex Mex (hello, seafood). I only say that because I advise against the queso. We suspect it's actually condensed canned soup with no cheese at all. I've also had enchiladas, tacos, and many other items on the menu(s) and loved those a lot.

Maybe They Had An Off Night???
SKILLMAN LOCATION - We can't understand all the rave reviews on this place. Maybe we went on a bad night for them, but we were totally disappointed. The surroundings were cramped and a display cabinet with wooden doors kept coming open (all 3 doors) and menus crammed inside for storage kept falling out on the floor. Husband ended up sticking sugar packets in the doors to get them to stay shut and avoid someone being injured.

The Calamari was good. Had that as an appetizer. Ordered Tacos Al Carbon as the main course (to the tune of $16.00 bucks each) and they came to the table cold, tasteless, flavorless and tasting what I would imagine shoe leather to taste like wrapped in cool, stale, flour tortillas. We have actually had more tasteful food at Taco Bell. Would not recommend it at all. Totally disappointed. (P.S. TO THE STAFF---Clean up the place a little bit and fix those doors on that hutch in the first dining room to the right after you walk in the door). Hey, the Diet Pepsi was doable!

Pros: The calamari was the only good thing about our experience.
Cons: Cramped and worn out atmosphere, cold food and mediocre service
