this kennel is not very good if your looking for your beloved pet and family member to have lots of attention and exercise while staying away from home. It lacks the quality of time spent with your pet and I didnt recall seeing much outside playtimes or walks while observing.

Our dogs first visited Keshlyn Kennel
twenty-one years ago when we moved to
Lexington. It was apparent right from the
start the care and compassion the staff
gives to each and every boarder was
exactly what we were looking for. We never, for a
minute, worry about our dogs when we're
away. The staff is tuned in to the needs
of all their boarders, and it's obvious that
they love what they're doing. Newer
kennels may come and go, but we never
even think of going to check them out.
Our advice to people looking for a
first-time boarding experience is LOOK
NO FURTHER.

I used to take my dog, Sadie, to other places and she never seemed happy. Then I found Keshlyn. At first it hurt my feelings that she was so happy and dragging me through the front door to get in the kennel; she doesn't even say goodbye to me because she is pawing at the door to go into the kennel. She comes home and sleeps for a day from all the activity that she gets because they have an individual indoor/outdoor area that she gets to go back and forth all day in addition to the playtime sessions. I always request that she plays with the manager's dog during her playtime session. All I have to do is say her dog's name and she goes nuts and bolts to the door ready to go and play with her. They have become best buddies and that makes me feel better about leaving her. Plus, they post pictures of the two of them during playtime which helps put me at ease while I am gone. It also helps knowing that the owners live behind the kennel and I can call as much as I want to check on her and the staff are wonderful. Sure, Keshlyn doesn't offer a couch and a tv with animal planet. The staff actually interact with each dog without charging extra to rub their belly like some places around here. All I know is my dog is very happy going there whether it is for just daycare or for overnight stays. Sadie doesn't need a tv to make her happy, she just needs the loving care of people like the staff at Keshlyn.

I do not think this facility is good for your dog, if he or she is not very used to a strange environment. I thought the whole purpose of the boarding service it to provide "care" to a dog who is out of his or her home. Some care and effort might be necessary. However, apprantly this facility did not provide such necessary care at all.

They did not bother to know the name of our dog. Even though I brought the favorite toys of our dog, they never played them with our dog during their so called play time. And there is a 5mm injury above our dog's eyebrow. Worst of all, our baby lost more than 5 lbs in a week under their "care". When I picked him up, nobody cared to tell us what the hack happened during the past week. Funny how they addressed our boy by "her". I really wonder whether they even bother to walk him at all, as they promised with their so called "playtime".

Anyhow, DO NOT send your dog to them if he or she is nervous about a new environment, which most pets do. They just do not care enough to make the efforts to comfort your pet. Shame on them.
