Finding a good dojo is a hard thing to do. You need a good fit. You want a dojo that is clean, roomy, and with good equipment, and a proven trace record that they will be around for a while. We looked around for a while and got trial memberships at several dojos. Most of them were too commercial. Most of them had too few classes. Most of them had dubious (at best) black belts teaching classes. If you found a school that had good kids classes, they had nothing for teens or adults. If you found a hard core adults class, they were completely inappropriate for kids. What we found was Karate International of Raleigh. Its a clean, bright and spacious dojo. Their style was Okinawan Karate, but they teach Judo, Jujitsu, and even have Kendo classes. They have many impressive black belts that teach you, instead of talking down to you.
