Kabob Palace ~ Wonderful by Lori T. at InsiderPages
Hidden behind a 7-11 on Eads Street near the Days Inn is a little non-descript kinda place that happens to serve the most heavenly Pakistani Take-out food on Earth.
You walk in and there is a menu board up above you, and some foods already to go in the small deli-type case. There are Formica tables throughout the small place and a few folks stay to eat there, but the vast majority of the business is take-out. There's a big.. I mean huge.. mural on the back wall but other than that the place is pretty stark.
You don't come for the ambiance, you come for the food.
Remember the Soup Natzi from Seinfeld? Well, that's pretty much how it is here. You better know what you want by the time you get to the register. I love it.
They are mainly a Kabob joint, thus the name Kabob Palace. I went with the Number 1, which is a Boneless Chicken Kabob for $6.95. All the food has the most delicious Indian seasonings permeating the meat and come with rice which is topped with your choice of whatever they have that day. I asked for both toppings. heh. That day was a Spinache concoction and a Chic Pea concoction (Kubali Chana). Both were just to die for! These are thick, chunky, gravy like deals. The food may not look like that much, but I could not finish a third of mine. Very filling! Oh yeah, they all also come with a thick version of parathi (bread) to roll your food in or to dip into the Kubli Chana.
Close your eyes and savor every bite. It's that kinda place and that kind of wonderful food. 4 high stars.
PROS: Very cheap, very good
CONS: it isn't right next door to me
