customer beware!!
I was absolutely shocked with what happened when I went to K Norris Jewelers in the Tyler Mall. I called the day before to make an appointment to have an appraisal on a diamond solitaire so that I could get the paperwork to have it insured. I know, roughly, the price of the ring, so made sure to check that I could stay in the store with it while it was being appraised. They said that was fine. When I showed up the next day a man, whom I believe was K Norris as he seemed to be the owner, sat down and asked to see what item was going to be appraised that day. I handed him the ring, he looked closely at it with a loop for about 2 minutes. Then his entire demeanor changed and he insisted that I leave the ring with him and leave the store until he was done appraising it. I told him I was not comfortable doing so and would like to stay in the store (again, I know this item is valuable and is an heirloom). He told me no and that I just need to have confidence in his work. I explained it was not about his workmanship, but rather, that I didn't feel comfortable leaving the ring with him because I discussed the day before that I would stay in the store. He kept insisting that I leave the store and let him keep the ring. It just seems odd that he said nothing of the sort over the phone or when I first talked to him. He only tried to get me to leave him alone with the ring once he got a good look at it. He continued to argue with me, saying that I couldn't stay and sit because what if customers come in? I said I wouldn't take up any customer's space, but again, wanted to be able to stay. The entire thing seemed so shady that I quickly took my ring and left. I will NEVER go back to this store. He has no concern for customer satisfaction or comfort, and is quite frankly one of the rudest people I have had the misfortune of meeting. His ethics are backwards and I would recommend that no one do business at his store. Be warned.
