For the antithesis of Starbucks, or really any traditional coffee house, head to Jungle Java on Newport Ave in OB. More akin to a backyard than an establishment, Jungle Java is clean, friendly, and best of all makes excellent coffee. The space provides seating out front on Newport for excellent people watching, or a secluded patio for those wishing to relax at tables tucked away by beautiful flowers and plants. The patio is smoker friendly for those wishing to enjoy both a nicotine and caffeine buzz. Don’t get too comfortable though—the café does not have bathrooms for those in it for the long haul! Also, this place, like many in OB is cash only so make sure to come equipt!

Half a block from the Ocean Beach board walk great sitting area in the back were there's potted plants all around you and buy them if you like or sit in front wacth the people go with all coffee's to soda a kick back and joy the day place.

This is a great little coffee shop in Ocean Beach. I like to stop by here when I'm in the area. The coffee is really good and it's pleasant to sit and drink with some friends.
