If you like diversity, challenge, and yoga with a more "dancey" feel this studio is for you. The rooms are awesome with tons of windows, and they really know how to use lights to create a perfect ambience. The diversity of teachers and knowledge that these teachers bring to each class is awe-inspiring!! It's a small enough studio that you really can easily cultivate relationships between teachers and owners. It's definitely an amazing studio, I highly recommend it!

I shopped around Chelsea for a yoga studio after several years away from practice due to two herniated discs in my lower back. From the moment I walked in to Joschi Body Bodega, I knew I had found something special. Very friendly, no attitude, a comfortable well designed space and great classes. What more could you ask for? The classes are challenging but the focus is on safety. As Joschi always says, "Just do what you can do. Listen to your body. If you can't do something, don't worry. It's just yoga." I'm a regular now and take classes about 3 times a week. I highly recommend giving Joschi and Monica a visit. You won't be disappointed!

I love spending time at this studio! Monika welcomes everyone by name, the space is gorgeous and there's absolutely no attitude. All of the teachers are dedicated to getting the best out of their students, but the real draw is Joschi himself. His classes are challenging and fun. He's famous for his one-liners: "Come on, it's your buttocks!"

I just did my teacher training at Joschi so I was required to take 200 hours of yoga there and still I would go back in a second! The teacher training program there is great and affordable but if you're just looking to practice, i think the place is a real find in some ways.
There's very little pretention, it looks more like a spa than a yoga studio. It's very homelike, people know each other. They have athletic, fitness influenced teachers and they have more spiritual teachers. All of whom are far above average in teaching skills. This is a place for people who like to flow, they all really move you.

If you live or work in Chelsea, and you like a true Vinyasa class, I would give this studio a month, try the different teachers, and you'll find one that fits you for sure. And you'll probably get addicted too :)

Many good things to say about this studio. First, they have something that no other yoga studio I've tried in the City has (not that I've tried them all, but quite a few): a big, beautiful classroom with windows on three sides that's in the back of the building--so it's quiet but open to the outside world. I went to one of Joschi's sweaty advanced classes on a hot and humid summer evening, and as we cooled down, working our way toward savasana, a summer thunderstorm broke and the rain thundering down all around us--amazing. I've worked with several teachers at the studio, and they have been so good--deeply knowledgable and sincerely generous. And I emphasize the generosity especially--unlike some studios, the place is not a cult. They seem to understand that yoga is not about worshipping at the feet of your teacher or swearing allegience to your studio. It's about your own individual practice, and all you may develop and experience with the guidance of a generous teacher. I feel comfortable bringing friends new to yoga there because I have no fear they will be turned off by being made to feel like outsiders, which is nice. And the great teachers mean even in a level one class I'm enjoying a great practice and learning something new every time. Very grateful to have found this gem of a studio.
