Steak by Trish M. at InsiderPages
I was surprised that there was only one review for this restaurant. I have a nephew who attends Manhattan College and we decided to go to this restaurant. I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. It was possibly the best steak that I have ever had. The steak was prepared perfectly and seemingly melts in your mouth. Although it is a little pricey it is worth every dime. The service is exceptional and there was never a moment when I was looking for my waitress. Overall a great restaurant, one of the best I have been to in a long time.

Jake's Steakhouse by Sandy P. at InsiderPages
This restaurant is by far the BEST steakhouse I've ever been to! It is located in Riverdale - right next to the 242nd St. stop on the 1 subway line, and easily accessible by car (with valet parking). The steak is amazing - I recommend Jake's Filet Mignon which is topped with melted gorgonzola and garnished with frizzled fried onions, port wine sauce (yummy!) Yes the restaurant is pricey, but well worth it - particularly for a special occasion. Expect, for a party of two (and with a bottle or two of wine), for the bill to be close to $200 - side dishes are extra, salad is extra, and there are appetizers. But, like I said, well worth it for a special occasion.

delicious food at a reasonable price
it was my boyfriends birthday and he had to work late (construction) so hehad to show up to Jake's, a classy steakhouse in which patrons were wearing suits and ties, in jeans, construction boots, and a dirty sweatshirt. after apologizing to the waitstaff for his appearance (they laughed it off) we recieved excellent service and plenty of attention (however, this was at 9 on a wed night so i cant say we would recieve the same treatment on a busy evening). the food was really good, it truly was manhattan steakhouse fare for a fraction of the price. he had the filet, i had a petit filet, both were done perfectly - the sides (broccoli and french fries) were fine. it was too dark to see much past the street but the restaurant faces the park which is lovely especially in the fall, so if you go during daylight hours ask for a table by the window. the tab came out to $150 including tax, tip, two steaks, two sides, a king crableg appetizer, a bottle of riff pino grigio, and a domestic beer. cant be mad at that.

Good Steak
All the food at Jake's is top quality and delicious, especially given the location. I've had a steak, the burger, and the pulled pork and chicken sandwiches, all of which were delicious. The only downside is that the decor is nothing to write home about and the service is very spotty. On the upside, it's Bronx prices for a Midtown quality meal

You are not in NYC anymore !!!!
Although the prices are like you are eating in NYC, the food is a far cry. My friends and I have visited Jakes several times, and compared to NYC finer steak houses, it does not at all match up.

The main bartender "BOB" seems to be able to only do one thing at a time. If there is more than 5 people at the bar, Bob seems to crumble like a bad stucco job ... It may take up to 10 mins to get his attention. He seems to eat more than the starving customers. One night, I recieved my steak and it appeared a slice was missing and Bob was chewing feverishly !!!!!
