Jakes has been a staple in Del Mar for a long time now. When I was a grom this was always the nice spot to come for family birthdays.

It is beautiful inside with very cool surfing memorabilia, and an awesome Hawaiian feel. Full bar, a quaint sea breeze infused outside patio, and an incredible spot to see the sun dip down for the night. Happy hour is rockin and even features a vegetarian item or two. Be sure to save room for the HULA pie which is a slice Kona Coffee ice cream mud pie with chokes of nuts chocolate sauce, whip cream inside an Oreo cookie Crust.

Place is aways packed b/c it is soooo good. To save a few bucks, you can park just a bit north of it for free. Otherwise you are valeting or paying meters. Free parking is pretty scarce in the summer, so bring all the good parking karma you got!

If you are visiting the town, this is a must see place.

Jake's has been my favorite restaurant ever since their phone number was just one digit different than mine, and I started getting dinner reservation requests. I thought I'd better check this place out, and never regretted it.
Right on the beach, with talented chefs and well-trained wait staff, and a full bar staffed by tenders who pride themselves in a perfect cocktail.
The happy hours can't be beat! Specials on drinks of course, but the food is what I go for. There are usually specialty appetizers as well as great regular bar menu items, and I love that most of them are NOT fried. Try to get there for sunset, any time of year.

Enjoyed great appetizers and a great meal here with business associates. The location is unbeatable - we had a table on the back wall of windows with a spectacular view of the water.

The view is amazing, one almost feels the sand from the beach blow through the open windows. It is worth the wait for a table on the lower level and surely make a reservation in advance. Sunday brunch is a delicious alternative to peak dinner hours. My lobster was once slightly overcooked and some brunch experiences have been better than others depending upon who was in the kitchen. Overall, it is an establishment we will return to for memorable culinary experiences.
