My husband recently went to see Dr. Iyer for his long-term depression, and it was an absolute disaster. We went there looking for help, and ended up being treated very poorly by this doctor. Dr. Iyer looked at my clinically depressed husband, who was clearly on the wrong meds and asked him, "Well, what do you want me to do?". It was as though he either didn't believe my husband, or that he truly didn't know what else to do for him. At the end of the day, I ended up being the one that suggested that perhaps the medicine we're currently using isn't the right one and we should try something else. Do your research, and do not leave your mental health solely in someone else's hands. In this case, it was a NIGHTMARE. We will NOT be going back to him.

I have been seeing Dr. Iyer for about 3 1/2 years now, he is by far the best psychiatrist that I have seen. I continue to see him because of the way that he approaches me / my situation. I don't see myself as a flawed person. I see myself as a normal person with a biological defect, and he treats me just that way. In so may Dr.'s offices, the Dr.'s and staff treat you like you're less than a person, and you leave feeling humiliated and guilty about your condition. Many Dr.'s, as treatment, will try to tell you that there is something inherently wrong in the way that you see the world, and if you only try hard enough, you can change yourself. I don't buy that crap. I have a real biological disorder, and need a real biological solution. Dr. Iyer not only gives that, but also treats me like a real, normal, equal person, not an illness, and that's why I continue to see him. I would recommend him 100%.‎
