IEC: Nicest Stable in the LA area
I have been boarding at Imperial Equestrian Center for the last 4 years. It is a wonderful place to board. The owners, Joel and Shona, are helpful and friendly. If you have a problem with anything Joel and/or Shona will do their best to remedy the situation. The other boarders, for the most part, are just as friendly and courteous. I have never had to wait for an arena. Speaking of arenas, the turn-outs are plentiful and the footing is great.

As someone who has boarded at other places, I must say that IEC is relatively "drama free". Boarders stay out of each others business.

Overall I'd say this is a nice place to be.

Imperial Equestrian Center is the place to be
I was on the internet and came across this review of Imperial Equestrian Center. According to the review this is not the place to be. I don't think so. I rode there for many years and still stop by to visit my friends and the place looks great if not better. I first started riding many years ago and I owe it all to Shona. As a very green rider I found it difficult to sit straight and stay balanced, with constant encouragement and patient instruction from Shona, I was on my way. At my first show a year and a half later, I got a BLUE ribbon. Wow, can you believe it! She's a great trainer and I learned a great deal from her. Still showing to this day. In regards to the property itself, it's always being upgraded. In the last couple years I've seen grooming racks and barns upgraded. The grass is still green and when I visit with my friends, they let their horses graze together while we catch up on old times. While visiting, my friends tell me about the new footings in arenas and they look really great. On a recent visit, I noticed the turnouts looked bigger and the grounds were really clean. The place looks busier than ever and the management is helpful and nice. Joel has always been really nice to me every time I've visited. A lot of new faces, but the same home feel. If only I was able to move back to the area, I would definitely board here at Imperial Equestrian Center again. This is definitely the place to be! A piece of the country in the middle of the City.

some things are not always as they seem .
I recently bought mysef my first horse, and I was looking at the barns in the local southbay areas .I came upon Imperial by chance and stopped in to take a look.I could not find the owners so I spoke with some of their borders and walked myself around . The place look nice, not like in PV but it was not an eye sore.besides the big factory it boarders and the power lines cutting through and the highway right there . I thought the indoor barns looked rather nice and they made good use of the little sace they do have . However , the shavings in the stalls seemed very low and the footing in the "main"? arena was horrid Their selections of jumps were run down and unmanaged . I found alot of what looked like uncared for horses in the stalls near the factory . long feet, bad coats skin and bone .Then I took a walk to the back lot , where I found a dirty "petting zoo" filled with animals someone should call help for ?
Besides that like I said I spoke with some of the boarders who told me I should wait till the barn down the st is done . as Imperial is a dificult place to keep healthy happy horses, and the owners husband is rather rude and unhelpful , also that the maitence was not kept up and getting things fixed was near to impossible. They also informed me not to waste my money taking lessons from the owner as she can only get someone to a cirtin point then its time to move on.Seeing as I already purchased Baily the following advise was no concern to me but I feel it should be mentioned that I was informed not to buy a horse through the owners as most of what they get are freebies that have issues with their feet and legs or colic etc .and most of the time the horses age is not what they lead you to believe
After all was said and done, I did take the owners number because teh board was reasonable enough that if the barn the lady i spoke with was up soon enough , I would consider keeping baily there till then however its been a month and I hae yet to have a return call .

Great Lessons and Friendly Place
My daughter has been riding for many years and Imperial Equestrian Center has been wonderful. Their prices are great for boarding horse and for lessons. The arenas have been grated and new arenas put up and enlarged. Nice soft sand in all arenas. The largest arena is set up nice for training or jumping. The landscape at the IEC is keep up it has grass alot of the Equestrain do not. There is alittle dust but what place doesn't. They do water down arenas when dust gets to much. The trainers are nice and friendly and help you when you need it. It is a place you need to check out

Imperial Equestrian Center
I had my horse at this establishment for 10 years. It is well kept and has a great family atmosphere. There are tack rooms with lockers big enough for 2-3 saddles as well as all other tack. Everyone looks out for each other and the owners are always available for questions. I have seen the owner, Joel, go above and beyond to help his boarders and offer sound advice. Joel and his wife Shona take a personal interest in their boarders and horses and make everyone feel very comfortable. They run a great establishment and I must say that it is one of few establishments that cleans stalls on a daily basis. Joel is constantly upgrading and keeping up all repairs. The landscaping here is beautiful and there are patches of grass to let your horse graze while you relax and visit. Shona is an experienced rider and I have been fortunate to witness her showmanship and must say that her students greatly benefit from all her knowledge.
