Great venue and an awesome addition to our downtown gaslamp scene.

I recently heard that there had been chatter of shutting down the San Diego HOB chapter due to low profits. We just can't let that happen!

HOB is historical and they are responsible for bring a lot of great acts to San Diego, that might not have otherwise decided to come. Just this week we had TechN9ne an underground rap act from the midwest and VNV Nation, industrial superstars from Europe.

Also, HOB is great because at the shows they split up the 21+ crowd and the under 21 crowd into two levels, so everyone can enjoy the music in a safe environment.

Plus, the decor is fabulous! It's very trippy and always changing. My favorite are the painted shoes, which are now located in the restaurant portion of the venue. (entrance on 5th street while venue entrance and box office are located on 4th street)

So why not sign up for their online mailing list and get a heads up on all the acts coming to town? The shows at HOB tend to be cheaper than most other venues, even the local bars. Or, go grab a meal and check out the eats. They even have a gospel brunch on Sundays for those who are so inclined.

Also, as of January 2009, you should check out the hotel next door, which will be reopening as part of the HOB. It's sure to be a huge hit!
