Bland, bland, bland, bland, bland....
100+ years old and well-regarded or not, the food was bland, bland, bland, bland, bland. If it hadn't been for the fact that I could readily taste the carrots in the 'relish tray' they brought over while I was looking at the menu, I'd have thought I was coming down with a cold... nothing had much flavor beyond vaguely tinged with salt. Even the raspberry iced tea seemed to be really watered down. The steak certainly wasn't worth $30. The "garlic bread" was a pair of breadsticks that were dry on the inside and soggy on top and if the menu hadn't called them garlic bread, I would never have noticed the garlic flavor. On the plus side, the waitress was quite pleasant and attentive, and the atmosphere, while a bit run down and gloomy, was interesting.
