When my husband purchased my ring 6 years ago, their guarantee only covered the piece for 3 years. It was around $90. After 3 years, we had to renew the warranty with another $90 for 3 more years. When that ran up and I went in again, I was informed they now have a policy on all new and future purchases that the warranty is for a lifetime now...but that I had to purchase it again. I asked why they didn't "grandfather" in people that have paid for the warranty multiple times in the past and they explained that just wasn't their policy. So...I am going to end up paying $270 for a warranty that will now cost a new customer $70!! When I voiced the OBVIOUS concern that wasn't fair and they should be taking care of their loyal customers that have been coming to them in the past rather than just worrying about new business, I met a brick wall. I even went so far as to contact their corporate offices (impossible to reach someone but I finally did)...and they also refused to just grant me the warranty I've paid for twice now. EVEN when I told them that my husband would never again buy their jewelry and I'm only 35...so a lot of jewelry buying years left...they STILL wouldnt issue the credit. My husband, just to be sure since he is the one that will be purchasing future items, also stated the same thing and pointed out the obvious that they will be losing a lot more business in the long run than only $70...they still refused to budge. SO...we renewed the warranty, which I still need on the ring, for an additional $70. And Helzbergs has forever lost a customer because of poor business, management, and customer policies. If you purchase from this store...beware that if anything goes wrong, you are on your own. They are completely inflexible and don't empower the leadership at local stores to make any decisions, even if it makes good business sense, least of all the right thing to do.
