Very nice older school with LOTS of parent involvement. Great place for 2 and 3 year olds looking to adjust to being around other children and learning the basics. Lots of art and hands on play. School hours are short only M/W/F or T/TH 9-11:30 plus lunch bunch if you stay. LB is one of the best parts if you attend, lots of one-on-one time with teachers.

Parents are enticed to help several times each 6 week period to reduce cost of tuition. When you are there you are responsible for part of the daycare & education (Co-op).

The school does not have a very structured learning curriculum nor does it customize learning based on a child?s needs. Often they focus on the problem child rather than the quiet student who is ready and willing to learn. Unfortunately with large class sizes the best behaved children are left to themselves, unless it?s your day to work.

I would recommend HRNS for 2 & 3 years olds who would benefit from basic introduction to playing with others, learning songs and art work (lots of artwork). 3, 4 and 5 years olds are mixed together in three class rooms in upper school.

Minette Read is GREAT and I highly recommend her in lower-school (2 year olds). But for your 4 year olds entering Kindergarten I found HRNS did not have the resources available to prepare our child for private school.

Great value if you don?t work and are not interested in sending your child to private school.
