I just switched from another dentist to Dr. Spencer's office to be closer to my home and now I'm regretting that I ever did. Terrible service. My 1st encounter with her office was extremely frustrating when I had left more than 3 voicemails on their machine (over a 2 week period) at which no one called me back â a live person never answered the phone whenever I tried calling. Upon my final attempt I actually received a live person which, sad to say wasnât any better because he was so flustered and distracted that I became very frustrated with him in setting up my 1st appt. because he kept asking me to repeat info that he had already asked me (8 times to be exact) re: date and time availability and putting me on hold a few times. After 17 minutes my appt was finally booked. Before the call ended he apologized and explained he normally doesn't answer the phones - he's a dental hygienist - hopefully his hygienist skills weren't as bad as his appt scheduling skills.
My 1st appt took over 2 hours (most of the time was used to fill out paperwork and waiting to see the dentist). When the 2 hr mark past, I was dialing my husband on my cell to tell him I hadn't even the seen the dentist yet and was going to leave - then the dentist walked in.
Dr. Spencer performed a complete exam and stated I needed to have my teeth cleaned, but because of the time, it was too late to do it that evening so I needed to schedule to come back for my cleaning. Are you kidding me? My appt time was for 6pm and it was 8:11p.
So I had to go thru the entire process again and schedule to take additional time off from work for my cleaning. I was told on two separate occasions during my visit where Dr. Spencer spoke to the receptionist in front of me that the receptionist would be contacting me to schedule my appointment and provide me with a price quote for my cleaning and they assured me that I would be contacted on my cell phone as requested. Neither of which took place.
I had to play phone tag for a few days and whenever I did speak to the receptionist, she wouldn't let me finish my sentence and cut me off several times. Finally I ask the receptionist if she was going to let me complete my sentences or was she going to continue cutting me off and talking over me without hearing all of what was being said? There was just silence and she provided no apology. I also mentioned that I had filled out on my form to call me with any messages on my cell and specifically not to leave any messages at my home because by the time I get home in the evening it was after hours and I couldnât contact her with the info they needed. Of course she left a message for me to call back with confirmation of my appt. by the end of day or my appt time would be released.
In addition, I spoke to the same person re: my EOB statement indicating my routine checkup was not covered and that they would be sending me a bill, and again she kept cutting me off w/out any apologies when brought to her attention again.
I'm at the point where I'm back to now trying to get a live person on the phone to re-schedule my cleaning appt due to a cold, and guess what? Of course, can't get a live person to answer the phone. I've had it. Dr. Spencer may be a very good dentist, but who would know, her staff is badly tarnishing her reputation with their very poor service and unprofessionalism.
In addition, her fees are much higher than two of the other dentists; Iâve been to previous to her. After this cleaning, Iâll be switching back to my original dentist who I hated leaving, but was just too far to travel to, but after having to go thru all of this, itâs so worth traveling the distance and being very happy with the service.
