Green Thumb is my #1 plant source. They have huge selections of pony packs, including perennials and ground cover! They have extremely knowledgeable staff: people who actually know about gardening and specifically for the climate of the SCV.

Inside there's always fun seasonal merchandise. I've been shopping here for years.

1/12/09 Update: Green Thumb is still my favorite. This past December I checked out their Christmas merchandise for the first time (who is really gardening in December?). I was amazed at their huge selection of UNIQUE items. They have a huge Dept. 56 section and tons of ornaments and decor that's different than what you see in other stores. Right before Christmas they offered a 50% discount on the seasonal merchandise and that was upped to 70% after Christmas. I bought beautiful gold star ornaments that looked like they were European and several small birds. I will definitely go back next Christmas for gifts.

This store has alot going for it. The outdoor showroom has trees, pond plants, flowers, shrubs etc. The Greenhouse has exotics like staghorn ferns, and venus flytraps. The indoor showroom is full of seeds, hoses, gardening books and even some nice garden themed giftware. The very best thing here though is to be found at Christmastime! Every Christmas the indoor showroom is set up with lots of artificial christmas trees dripping with hundreds of ornaments. Each tree has a different theme and you just 'shop' from the trees! I have probably purchased 50 or so ornaments here over the years and always get asked 'where did you find that? It's so nice!'

Green Thumb is my favorite nursery in Santa Clarita. Customer Service at it's best. They are always there to answer my questions and to offer suggestions on the right plants or trees. And the quality of plants and trees are premium. I would recommend over Loews & HomeDepot any day! I recently purchased a variety of colorful plants and flowers for whiskey barrels in my back yard at the recommendation of Green Thumb. I love the creeping Petunias - they are very durable.

This nursery carries a wide variety of plants good for the Santa Clarita Valley weather. They also have all gardening needs including patio furniture and decorating items such as fountains and gazebos. They have a small selection of house plants. The staff here is very knowledgable and are always available to answer your questions - the reason I give them 4 stars.

I love Green Thumb. Unlike the national Home Improvement Centers, Green Thumb gives you personalized service. The staff is knowledgable about planting in the SCV and the selection of plants and trees is great. The plants are well-maintained and I've not had any problems with stuff dying.

The cost isn't that much more than the Home Centers and it's worth paying a little more to get quality plants and materials. There's also delivery service available.
