I collect all kinds of art -- limited editions, movie posters, photography -- and I've been to quite a few framers over the years. The Great Frame Up did several projects for me, and their work was excellent. I shopped around for a framer when I moved to the area last year, and their prices were pretty comparable to other framers in the area. The difference was the time they spent with me on design. They don't just put everything into a black frame. They really care about making things look as good as possible (within my budget). Highly recommended!

I read all the glowing reports and went there. The prices were unreal. It is so very expensive, it's incredible. Not realistic at all.

This is the frame store to go to if attention to detail and creating a focal point for a room are your goals. We had a number of pieces which presented great challenges--pages from antiquarian book, a set of heavy tiles from Mexico, and others--each requiring a sophisticated evaluation. We placed our trust in the owner and were rewarded handily. He also did a great job with a special album cover. We've used other framers in the past, but wouldn't think about going back to them. I thought we were crazy to drive from San Francisco to have framing done in San Mateo, but I'm glad we did.

I purchased a piece of artwork from a major retailed and did not like the hanging mechanism so I ventured into The Great Frame Up for assistance. I was greeted by Paul the owner and he almost immediately offered to rewire my art at no cost. I was so pleased with the service that I inquired about framing a special photograph of mine that was taken with delicate wet plate photography. Paul took a genuine interest in my project and provided me with his expertise on how to proceed. Within minutes he had picked out a frame, double matting and reflection free "museum glass" which looked better than I could imagine. Paul took my photograph and handled it with the necessary care and assured me it would remain pristine. The project was completed for me on time and the results were superb! I highly recommend The Great Frame Up on 25th Ave in San Mateo.
