We (8 of us) were on our way back to Hondo, TX from our road trip to California and on through Nevada, New Mexico and Arizona. We noticed that our transmission was leaking and that it wasn't shifting as it should be. Especially after we would stop for gas or to sleep for the night.
It was late Sunday after noon, we could have driven into Elpaso, TX and arrive in time for supper, but I decided to pull off the Hi-way (10) and set up for the night. Then get up early and look for a mechanic to look at our RV.
We found several mechanic shops, but no one in until 8am. So we went for breakfast and then went back to see who was in first. I had noticed a transmission shop (Grant's) that used to be an old gas station sitting a few blocks from some newer auto shops that had these giant bays and 8 or 10 employees working there.
I didn't know why, at the time, but I fealt as though Grant's was the shop for our situation. A tall linky fellow approached us and asked us if he could assist us. I didn't need any other reason to look for another mechanic. I knew then why I had chosen this shop. Stephen's courteous approach, friendly attitude and his thorough inspection of the RV set me at ease and comfortable enough to let him work on our RV.
Two and a 1/2 hours later and a complete transmission fluid and filter change. We were up and running like new. Stephen had noticed that our transmission fluid was thick as mud and all it need it was some new air to breath (fluid that is). Stephen even took his time to explain a few things that would help us make it home safely. We made it back to Tx with no more transmission problems. Thanks to stephen.
