I took my 4 year old daughter here on a media stay as I get a lot of questions about which hotels in La Jolla are family friendly. The Grande Colonial is one to consider.

It's located in one of the best spots in La Jolla. There's easy access to the beach, shopping and all the fantastic restaurants on Prospect. Except, one of my favorite restaurants in La Jolla is located in the hotel - NINE-TEN. NINE-TEN provides the room service menu and even the half baked chocolate cake that their famous for is on it. I was also pleasantly surprised by their reasonably priced kids menu. It never occurred to me that I could bring my daughter to NINE-TEN.

There is a small swimming pool that's good for young kids, but not necessarily swimming laps. We were in a suite that had a nice view of the Children's Pool. It was very comfortable. Remember, it's a very old, historic hotel so if you're expecting contemporary zen decor, this isn't your place. Our suite had a living area, bathroom and large dressing area and closet. In fact, my daughter just liked lounging in it.

The staff was also beyond nice. I would totally staycation here again. My stay was complimentary but for my own website, not MojoPages.

I finally got to experience a hotel that I have past so many times, what I found was a classy place that maintains the old world charm, carefully blended with detailed attention, ammenities, and gives you enough luxury to make you feel you are special! Location is just right, and if you are looking for dining out, shopping , you are in the perfect spot!

Besides being a wonderful spot to stay as a guest, this is also a great place to hold receptions and small conferences. My husband's office has a dinner here every year, and it is a lovely place for an outside cocktail party and then dinner in the dining area. There are great views from some of the rooms, and you will also enjoy the restaurant attached to the hotel.

We stayed 2 days at the Grande Colonial. The location is perfect for walking around La Jolla Village or down to the beach and along the seafront. The restaurant Nine Ten is pricey but highly recommended (we didn't eat there)

This hotel has a wonderful view of the ocean. The rooms are elegant, and there is plenty of room to keep your luggage. They do not mess up on their wake up calls and their room service is prompt and delicious. This is an excellent hotel right in the middle of town if you are willing to pay a little extra for a great vacation.
