Labor and Delivery by Emmy M. at InsiderPages
I read the earliest review for this ward and I was surprised. I had such a different experience. I had my son on May 3,2008 and I felt that all of the nurses went well beyond their job description. I felt so unclean from the whole labor part and they were so caring and would clean me very frequently. As soon as I needed pain meds they were there.I am a first time mother and felt that the nurses answered all of my questions and concerns and were more than willing to help me with my son. The rooms are great and the food is excellent!!! I am pregnant again and will be back in either end of April or early May 2009.

Disappointed with the Mother and baby Unit
1) My wife's water broke at 12AM, so we had to go inside via the Emergency room. They ushered us in, good so far, but instead of atleast giving her a wheel-chair, made us walk all the way to the Labor Unit.

2) Once inside the Labor unit, despite the fact that we had pre-registered with the Hospital with all of our personal and insurance information, we were asked for all that information all over again, in a rather rude manner. (Letting us know who the boss was, obviously!)

3) The overall Labor and Delivery Unit experience was normal and average.

4) Then came the moment to transfer us over to the Mother and Baby Unit at which place the real 'service' was shown by the nurses. Once admitted, the nurses were really rude, sometimes not even responding when asked for pain medications on the help line. The 'help-line' front-desk attendant was rude to the point of hanging up without any response, when requested to call the nurse.

5) The lab technician that drew from my baby doesnt even bother that the baby is in intense pain, doesnt even offer some soothing words. Hey, you are drawing out of a one day old baby, not some inanimate thing!! Soothe and pacify the baby or get out of the unit and try drawing from animals!!

6) The paediatrician that comes the second day looks at the Vitamin K shot that is given to the baby the moment he is born and thinks that is Hep B shot and records the same, doesnt even inform us. Imagine our astonishment, when after a week, our paediatrician informs us that the Hep B shot is only given in front of us and followed up with a yellow-card that has all the info. Who exactly would have been responsible if the baby got infected somehow?

The only good things are the Nursery which is excellent, the average-to-above-average Labor and the Delivery Unit.

Overall, i would not go to this Hospital for my second baby. I have expressed my pain to our doctors and i am trying to lodge an official complaint to the Hospital also.

Great place for oncology patients by R f. at InsiderPages
This hospital is great for oncology patients. They know what they are doing and the staffs are so knowledgeable and helpful. The place is also clean. Nurses here answer their call lights promptly which I liked.

Not the average Urgent Care by Gail C. at InsiderPages
Urgent Care clinics conjure images of long waits and dour employees, but Good Samaritan has really changed the face of emergency care. Our family has needed Urgent Care services for a number of different accidents in the past couple of years and the staff at Good samaritan is always pleasant and efficient. We've been triaged quickly and once back in the treatment area, have been treated with kindness, dignity, and professional medical care. We were checked on periodically and offered items for our comfort (a blanket, meds, etc.) while we waited. While you hope never to need emergency medical care, it's a comfort to know that Good Samaritan will make the process as painless as possible.

Avoid the ER - they don't diagnose
The Good Samaritan ER can treat symptoms so that you feel comfortable and go home, but they don't care to look into the underlying problem, they just want you to go see your doctor when his office is open. I went in with a very serious chronic medical condition, they did not take a good history, glossed over my condition, "made me comfortable", asked how I felt, and when I told them I was feeling better, they discharged me. When I tried to explain that my symptoms were not under control, the nurse yelled at me and humiliated me. Try Los Gatos Hospital ER. I went there the next day and they were very professional, understood my condition, and gave me appropriate and excellent care.

Pros: they will make your acute symptoms go away
Cons: treating symptoms before the diagnosis is not good medicine ~ they can "practice" on someone else!
