Nice course in a beautiful area
Nice course in a beautiful area: I really love the area in Fallbrook/Bonsall. Rolling hills (which are green this time of year) dotted with nurseris, citrus, and avacodo groves. There are a few golf courses around here and some of these take more advantage of the area than others.
I had the priveledge of golfing the Golf Club of California this weekend. It's a private course on the eastern edge of Fallbrook. Not the best manicured, but, definately well manicured. It was a fun course and the entire time, we had no feeling of pressure from other players, and really felt like we had the course to ourselves.
There were no particularly challenging holes, but, they were definatly interesting enough to be fun. But, one thing that I really liked about the course, was the fact that you felt like you were part of Fallbrook. The views were great. Surrounded by rural North San Diego County. Avacodos, hills, green. It was a very nice place to be.
After our game, we hung out at some outdoor tables by the clubhouse, had a cocktail, and watched ducks swimming across the lake. Very nice finish to a fun day of losing golf balls.
This is a "members only" course, and I got to play it as a prospect. From what I understand, it's a $20k refundable investment with approximately $500/month in dues. This is probably a pretty good deal if you play at least semi-seriously and play at least weekly. Personally, I'm still on the fence.
What I'd like to see, is more of a built-out club. Currently, there is no tennis, no spa, no pool, no gym, only a golf course and a club house/restaurant. We'll see what gets built out as the club matures.
