This is the best place to have your pet groomed in all of San Diego! The do an amazing job at grooming, they really want to take care of your animal and make sure it looks good. They have a webcam, so you can watch your dog getting groomed! My dog always looks so good whenever she leaves this place. They also have a boarding service, and they have webcams in the dog play rooms. I love watching the webcams! I have tried out a few places in San Diego, and The Golden Paw is by far the best. This is not for people who just want their dog washed, this places offers many services to make your dog look great, I always opt for the doggy facial (it's only $5!).
Pros: The groomer is awesome! She really takes the time to find out exactly what you want, and does an awesome job. I have never been unhappy!
Cons: Apparently all of San Diego knows about this place. It is almost impossible to get your dog in on a weekend because they have so many regulars with standing appointments. Like literally I had to book once 3 months in advance, and I got the last open slot for Saturday. If you can go in on weekdays it is not as bad though. Also, they can be slow to answer the phone, which gets very frustrating. I just keep remembering how great my dog looks and how happy she is when we go there!
Price Range: $50 - $100

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR DOG IN THEIR CARE! I left my 4lb 5-year old Yorkie in their "care" and as a result of their negligence, my dog DIED. At first they LIED to me about how my dog died. Only after we inquired about a necropsy (dog autopsy ), did they admit that my 4 pound little puppy was unattended to for 3 1/2 hours and ultimately found DEAD in the playroom with the BIG dogs (a room he should never have been in). Clearly something went terribly wrong at this place. I BEG you NOT to use the Golden Paw. Not only did they neglect my dog and not know his where abouts for 3 1/2 hours, but they have been nothing but disrespectful and rude to us. They have provided me with little information and have shown NO compassion. I have had to call and yell and beg for someone just to talk to me. This is a HORRIBLE place and the staff is INCOMPETENT and RUDE.
Cons: They left my 4 LB puppy unattended in the BIG dog playroom for several hours resulting in his DEATH.
Price Range: $1 - $5

My dog's Home away from Home by Wehilani B. at InsiderPages
I have always had a really hard time leaving my dog with someone I don't know, but as fate would have it I needed to attend a seminar for work.

While taking my dog to the dog park in Ocean Beach I over heard some people raving about this so called dog kennel in Bay Park. As I mumbled under my breath I would never leave my dog at some compound....

So I didnt have a choice, no one could help me with Oliver, I broke down at the last minute and gave the Golden Paw a call 2 days before I had to leave. Luckily Oliver had all his shots and they had availibility.
I had the red eye on Thursday and I worked all day had to pack and the best part is I got to spend time with Oliver and drop him off right before my red eye to New York.

The ladies were so great and very professional. I was blown away, Oliver stayed in a suite with a web-cam and TV. As nervous as I was I got to see him before I went to my seminars and even when I got into the Hotel.

The Golden Paw by far Oliver's new home away from home...

The only place I would leave my dog!!!!!!
I have been going to the Golden Paw since they opened in 2001 a lot has changed since but it seems to have been all for the better. I love how caring the staff is and how willing they are to care for my dogs. I have two dogs, one who is 13 and needs special care and the other a 7 month old puppy who is full of energy. I love that when I walk through that door the front desk staff knows who I am and the names of each dog. I love that that staff takes the time to get to know both me and my dogs on a more personal level I don't feel like I am just another client to them. I'll be the first to admit I can be a little over protective of my babies but the staff deals with me and all my craziness with out even batting an eye. One of the big things that sold me on the Golden Paw was I didn't have to come at a certain time for a tour or set up an appointment like all other places it made me feel like they weren't hiding something from me and I have been a loyal customer ever since.

The Best by beth d. at InsiderPages
Cody has been attending Golden Paw Day Care since he was 4 months and he just turned 6 YEARS !
I met Cody at the SD Humane Society while unemployed. Of course two weeks after he adopted me I found the almost ideal job - almost because of great pay, great opportunity BUT loooong hours. Cody is special - he had been abused, was afraid of EVERTHING and is a German Shepard mix. Without the proper attention, love and care it was likely he could become very aggressive and not have a happy life. On the advice of the Humane Society he began attending Doggie Day Care at the Golden Paw. Good for him ?????? and especially good for me as it meant I needed to put Cody first, start work at a reasonable hour and leave work at a reasonable hour in order to pick him up by 7P.

Even then the staff was caring and attentive to Cody (and me !). Quite often Cody would fall fast asleep on the ride home that I literally had to wake him up to get him out of the car and into the house. He was, and continues to be, a VERY happy hound enjoying a guiltless friend ?????? me !

Well, the Golden Paw staff and management have undergone changes in the past 6 yrs ?????? improving all the way. Cody and I have gone thru changes as well. He is now at home 2-3 days a week and looks forward to his days at the Golden Paw.

The facility is clean, the staff are caring, I am happy and most importantly Cody is a happy, well adjusted dog, I am thankful for the Golden Paw b and mostly I am thankful Cody is in my life.
