Sewer problem -- bait and switch?
Offered cheap diagnosis of sewer problem, and showed up pretty quick. "Snake" operator claimed that his cable got "stuck" in my pipe, and only way to get it out is to replace whole sewer line! Also tried the old "time pressure" technique that I had to decide QUICKLY if they should proceed. Wanted to charge me $14,000 to replace sewer.

I wanted to think about it, so they left snake in the sewer and left. (Never heard from them again, not even to retrieve their cable sitting in my sewer!!)

A local company came and removed Gillece's snake from the sewer pretty easily. Upon speaking with MANY other folks, including my boro and other plumbers, Gillece is WELL KNOWN to deceive customers and overcharge.

BEWARE.

Also, please understand that when I did actually have my sewer replaced, it cost a total of $5000. by another company.
Price Range: $10,000 - $25,000

Impeccable Installation of Claw-Foot Tub
After having several contractors bid on the installation of my claw-foot tub, I had to deal with a lot of missed appointments, no call backs, and people being late even when I was trying to give them money! The installation required some creative rearranging of the existing drain and supply lines. The location of these was in a precarious spot and several people told me that they might have to tear out walls and ceilings in my dining room and kitchen to get it done. I called Gillece and Jerry came out and talked through an approach that made the most sense. The quote was higher than everyone else, but the warranties on my tub and fixtures were only good if installed by licensed plumbers, which Gillece plumbers are. I felt good about going with Gillece but I was still holding my breath after being burned on a previous project that never ended, never completed, and the contractor left it to me to try and track down his workers to show up myself. Jerry from Gillece had a crew manager call me and tell me that the installation would take 3 separate trips and would take 3 days. He said that each day someone would show up at 9. Fast forward... Their guys were early every day, completed everything on time and moved a 350lb tub in, and up a flight of steps without so much as a scratch to a wall and even hauled off my old materials that I had. I can't tell you how happy I am with their service, timeliness, and their respect for leaving no trace. I would recommend them to anyone for any remodeling project. The extra $$ will save you headaches and may wind up being cheaper in the long run.

Gillece is great service
We have an older (80+years) but very well kept home. When we called Gillece to fix a clogged sewer, we had a feeling it may need to be replaced, and it did. The treatment we received as far as service and professionalism was fantastic and the job was done right the first time. It WAS expensive, as I would expect any job of this size would be. Besides, where I come from, you get what you pay for…..

Great service on a weekend
I called Gillece on a Sunday afternoon. It was my daughter’s 7th B-Day and our whole house was stopped up and the main bathroom was overflowing. I was in a panic with a whole house full of moms and kids. I called at least 10 other companies with no answer or answering services taking messages. One of the moms suggested that I “Call Gillece” and to my surprise, the office was staffed just like it was a regular weekday. The dispatcher assured me he would have a plumber out within an hour. Steve from Gillece showed up at our door within 30 minutes and gave us what he called “temporary relief” but what I call savior. Only charged $99 for the service. First thing Monday morning, they came back and hooked us up with a permanent fix for the problem. Will definitely call again if we have problems and recommend highly.

master rip-offs
In an emergency situation last winter, Gillece showed up to do a job that comparable companies would charge from $900-$1200. Gillece charged almost $8000. They took advantage of the situation and are sociopathic in their dealings. Whether there is flooding in your home, potentially fatal gas leakage, furnace on fire...whatever. Just leave your home immediately and take the time to do the research on the company you choose to do the work. If I had the time to read the reviews, they would've never been called. They are protected according to the attorney generals's office by PA laws that say they can charge whatever they want, especially in an emergency sitution. BEWARE!!! Do NOT Call them for any reason.
