When I was married I waited 3 hours in the Austin SS office to get my name changed. When I returned from living over seas and needed a new card (after having lost mine) I went to Georgetown. The service was friendly and prompt, the last thing I expected from a government office. Later on we went again to get cards for our two youngest children and again the service was friendly and we waited all of 10 minutes to be seen. Since then my step-mother used their office to change to her married name with the same experience, and I sent another friend there to get a replacement card and actually got taken to lunch since he had budgeted most of his day for sitting in the SS office waiting but only spent 30 minutes there in total.?
