Great mexican food in the heart of Pacific Beach. Great value for your money. Very cool beach atmosphere and friendly staff.

Three friends and I went there on a Taco Tuesday, there were no tables, but we were able to sit at the bar in one of the corners right next to computer where the servers went to tap in the table information.

We were ignored for over 15 minutes even though we kept trying to get servers and the bartenders attention. I think there was one guy inside the bar with a shirt that said "I'm not a bartender" on the back...if that was in the front we wouldn't have tried to get his attention.

Finally one server got our drink orders and I was the only one who got my drink (a soda) the rest ordered margaritas that never came (again we were sitting at the bar!) The server never came back to get our food orders until one of the guys nearly wrestled one to the floor and we didn't let her go until she took our order.

The food was great, since it was taco Tuesday we had the tacos, and even though you see in several places $2 tacos, not all of them are $2, some where $3 or $4 depending on the type. One of my friends ordered a hamburger taco, looked weird but he liked it.

All of a sudden the bartender took notice of us just to make us pay the bill at once (maybe his shift was over) so we paid, left no tip and decided to leave.

The place was packed, but there were lots of servers running around and talking to each other. Maybe the people on tables got better service. Overall the food was very good and a great deal on Taco Tuesdays, even if the service was very poor

Fred's in PB is one of the Taco Tuesday bars. While it is easier to get a seat than at the Pacific Beach Bar and Grill, the food leaves something to be desired. If you are looking for something more authentic, Fred's is not the place for you. If you are looking for getting cheap tacos and tequila, then stop by. It is a surprisingly large building which has a main dining area, small outdoor patio and large back bar. On Wednesdays they have "Wild West Wednesdays" which features a DJ and mechanical bull riding, however, it is never as fun as it sounds.

The food is good, the decor is awesome , and the price is right! Check it out! The firepit on the patio is perfect for people watching & cocktails!

Good food and excellent margaritas! Wish they would bring back the 2 for 1 burrito special on Thursdays.
