Fisk-it is an old time kind of business, meaning they're honest. From the very time I used them 7 years ago, they always sent me a bill. . When I had a problem, Steve himself came over. Last several times I've called have been less than acceptable. His young guys have a lack basic business skills like being able to articulate what they will do and not do.
Recently, one left me with a wall rippd opn and as they were leaving, I said what abou the wall?, they said oh, we ripped it open to do the work but we won't close it back up, we're plumbers. I was speechless. For a $650 job, you'd think they could have told me at the time of estimate, by the way, you'll be left with a hole in your wall. I called the owner and gave him a piece of my mind and he agreed to split the cost of the plasterer, another $180. But really, did I have to find out there was going to be an additional expense as they were leaving?
Another time when they were putting in a new kitchen faucet, I was in my office in the back while the kid did the work. I walked out to find the faucet running and the sink full, two seconds from overspilling and no plumber in sight. He was outside in the truck making a phone call. If I hadn't caught it, my wood floor would have been underwater. The guy was absolutely unapologetic. I told him to leave.
Next time, they were putting in a new garbage disposal, which I bought from them, as well. The guy told me after installation that it was defective due the loud noise it was making. I told him if it was really DOA, then go get another one. He refused, telling me that I had to deal with the manufacturer for a replacement...even though he just put it in. I was so livid, I told the plumber to leave. I called the owner and and he came over, peered inside, took out a screwdriver and popped a clip and voila, it worked fine. So, draw your own conclusions.
