Amazing restaurant that I never thought of hitting up until coming across a review on MojoPages. It's more of a market than a restaurant and most will pick up food to take home or so it seems the one time I was there. The food was great and the service was really good which made up for the decor.
Pros: Fish selection, prices, service
Price Range: $1 - $5

Nice seafood restaurant that often gets looked over
I've got to agree with other reviews that this place often gets looked over. I don't think it should however, its very good. I personally recommend the Poki salad its got a little bit of spice but it is extremely good. The atmosphere is nice although the restaurant can get extremely loud, if you want a quieter setting I suggest heading outside. The swordfish tacos I had were also very good, although a little expensive as far as tacos go for sure. This place is not cheap, even for seafood. So expect to pay a little more here than else where.

Great, Quality Fish; But Not Cheap
My wife and I have eaten here several times, and always enjoyed it. But we have ordered 'take-out' dozens more times. We love the food. But the prices do reflect the quality.

As several other reviewers have noted, the quality of their fresh fish really is superb. This really surprised me the first time I went in there, because it's located in north PB, not far from a long string of bars and pubs. The Fishery is notably more upscale (and higher priced) than other businesses around it. But you'd hardly know that from the unassuming exterior.

The interior is pretty small. But when we've eaten there I've never felt cramped. (In part because, as others have noted, much of the business seems to be from people picking up "to go" orders. I've never been there when the restaurant itself was full.) But when we have eaten there, I've found the service to be excellent as well. Attentive but not stifling. And knowledgeable about the menu and the wines.

Our clear favorite the ceviche. But the clam chowder (which I don't normally like) is also really good. Because we've been there many times, we've had many, many things on the menu and never been disappointed.

surprisingly good
My parents and I were looking for a new place to eat for Mother’s Day that wouldn’t mean waiting for a table for hours. When we came across this restaurant, we were greeted with a warm smile and seated right away. Our server recommended a few good dishes which is always helpful at a restaurant you have never been. I was surprised at how great the food was. For being in PB, it seems a bit out of place because it is a “nicer” sit down restaurant. Our server goofed and forgot to bring my dad a side soup he order. To make up for it, she offered to treat us to a dessert. I thought that was very kind of her, and definitely unnecessary (but much appreciated). We ended up having the most amazing 3 scoop sorbet which was to die for. We will definitely be coming back here again!

"An overlooked treasure." The Fishery is a moderately priced fresh seafood market with a quality little seen in the area. The restaurant has an up hill battle as they are in the heart of Pacific Beach which surely isn't known for it's dining. I used to always hit up the market side of the establishment as they are a quick drive down the hill for me. I'd grab some daily fresh catch and head home or to a friend's BBQ to make something special. I never bothered to stop and eat a meal there as it's location was less than desirable. The wood decor and fish market just dissuaded me. I knew they had reasonable prices but when it comes to eating seafood I see no need to be fiscal. But I finally took a chance for an impromptu dinner experience. I was reminded that you can't judge a book by it's cover. The service was solid, the wine list decent and the food was not high end gourmet but it was GREAT. I got to know the staff over time since then by shopping the market for my fresh fish and I am looking forward to the twice a year they ship in LIVE, yes live Alaskan king crab. It's one crab to a couple and it's pricey but promised to be amazing. FYI, I found out about this by seeing a giant monstrous ugly creature in the lobster tank.....it was a huge live king crab. Many thumbs up to this overlooked underestimated local beach city seafood restaurant.
Pros: inexpensive, no need for reservations, great fres fish market
Cons: not the most impressive spot for a date
