I don't get why there is a good amount of people that like this place. The service was decent and addressed the large group that I came with but the food lacked so much taste.

The food: Um, no, all i need to say is: precooked in a aluminum tin pan mashed potatoes. Everyone told me that their mashed potatoes was the best. but when i had them, they were dry and tasteless. I mean, you can actually see tin pans of precooked items just sitting near the grill/roaster. its horrible.

They didn't have salmon at the time that I went which I was very very disappointed. So I opted for another forgettable fish which was dry and vegetables were tasteless.

None of my other group members enjoyed this place as well so I will not be returning back to this restaurant.

We went to Fish House often when my Father in law was alive. Now only occassionally but it is always perfect.

I love this place ! The best fresh fish and fresh fish market in North county...Always delicious , and a great atmosphere....casual dining.....love the atmosphere

I have been going to Fish House Vera Cruz for many years. The food is simple but perfect, the way seafood should be. The portion is large, the sour dough bread is always piping hot. Great place !

I'm a fan of Fish House for a couple reasons....

A. The spot! Set in/around Restaurant row this is one of the "classier" restaurants in San Marcos.
B. The looks... Inside is pretty rad. Fishtanks all around filled with exotics, including the bar. That's right I said a fishtank bar.
C. Most importantly, the food. Really amazing seafood that is off the charts. If you're in the mood for something from the water, do yourself a favor and goto Vera Cruz.
D. The service. Never had bad service here. I've been coming here for about 6years now and I see the same faces. To me, it means a lot when a restaurant can keep its staff for so long.

Overall, it's certainly worth checking out. For affordable, good food with a nice atmosphere and great staff. I'd highly recommend this place. It's a catch!
