Contrary to the other reviewers, I am not a huge fan of Gringos. Sure the location is great, right by the water and there's great happy hour specials (grande margs for the price of a regular, 1/2 price bottled wine, etc.) but I just do not enjoy their food.

The only thing I like and order is the fajitas...and let's be honest, I'm doing all the work, but I'll admit they are delicious!!! :P

I've had a few different burritos and entrees and I've yet to find anything else I like.

But they do have delicious margaritas and they serve salsa and cheese dip with their chips which I thoroughly enjoy.

The staff is OK...usually pretty friendly but nothing to write home about.

Surprisingly, there is almost always a wait for a table but the bar area is self seating.
They offer indoor and outdoor seating and the place is pretty nice and clean. They also have an endless champagne brunch!
Pros: Nice ambiance for dinner and drinks; fajitas and margaritas!
Cons: Their menu selection, parking, long waits.

Times Are Changing
Most of what everyone has had to say about this place is true. Gringos is in a great location (just a block from the beach) and the decor/ambiance is really unique. In the past, however, I have always thought the menu was lacking in variety and flavor, consisting of only the most basic and boring Mexican dishes. The margarita selection is quite impressive but they aren't strong enough to keep me coming back. The real competitive advantage this restaurant has always boasted - the sole reason I consider eating at this place - is their signature green chili queso dip. It is complementary along with spicy, authentic salsa and a basket of chips (I eat at least two servings of it every time I'm here). But alas, the last time I went to Gringos, to my great dismay, no one placed a dish of delectable queso dip on my table. Instead, a dish of salsa verde (which was mediocre) and a dish of overly-spicy, watered-down red salsa stared me in the face. When I mention to my server the void that had quickly formed within my soul and my appetite, he informed me that they completely revamped their menu and no longer offer the pale, heaven-sent concoction! Sure enough, the menu was completely different. In fact, the food selection was much better - they now offer more of a variety and more interesting dishes. Also, the prices are much more reasonable. I left with a full belly and a full wallet, but does this new menu justify the loss of my beloved queso dip? I don't know for sure but what I do know that I need some time to heal before I return.

Skip Gringos
I had one meal at gringos and found it to be very bland Mexican food. While it was not a busy night, at least 5 open tables in our section alone, and barely anyone on the patio, we had to wait quite a while to put in a drink/food order. The complementary chips came warm and were great, but the salsa left a lot to be desired in flavor and texture. For dinner I ordered the "make your own tacos" with the adobo chicken. The chicken was moist, but had absolutely no flavor. This meal was more than I could eat in one sitting, but that may have been because I wasn't too excited to eat it after the first few bites. I'd go for Chipotle for the fast service, flavor and price.
