You might think, WTF, 8-9 bucks for a F-in piece of cake, you gotta be kidding me!?!

Well in most cases, you're probably right. But If you pick out the one that suits your tastebuds, you are in for a treat. Most of the time, I can't finish it. (Come to think about it, I've never finished my cake there). I like this location because its open and airy and more room than their Hillcrest location! It can get pretty busy so make sure you keep your eye for seating at the bar (no wait required). The food is a little odd but I sorta get its point. But honestly, you're an idiot if you expect to get great dinner type food at a place that is called EXTRAORDINARY DESSERTS. Yes yes, mope and gripe about the wait and say, it ain't all that its cracked up to be but in the end, the dessert is damn good if you find one that you like. My favorite is Tortamisu.

Not all selections are going to be made available that day so you gotta time it right or call the day of and see what cake selections they have for the day. But this place has a great ambiance and well good for dates... Don't come here if you are not a sweets person, this place is not for you!

Their deserts are truly pretty extraordinary. I had heard of this places o many times and had to try it out finally. I was surprised by how big it was, and that it serves so many food options, not just deserts. We went during their happy hour and I think the prices were better then. The display case of deserts looked amazing, they are decorated so well I was really impressed it was hard to decide what to try. My friend got the pavlova..oh my it was so good and really beautifully displayed with fruits and a syrup design. It tasted great too. We split a tea that was really good too, I loved their sugar crystals.

This is such a fantastic dessert cafe and it's great that it's in San Diego because it can easily be placed in better foodie cities such as San Francisco and Los Angeles. What a relief that it's not because great dessert places in San Diego are few and far in between.

I've heard complaints in the past about the size and cost of their cakes (i.e. my mom) but it's really great value for money. If you can't finish the serve, then take a friend along and share or box it and take it home for a second dessert.

This location also boasts a fantastic savory menu. All of the salads and sandwiches I've had is great. All in all, Karen Krasne has done such a consistently great job of offering really gourmet food and desserts at a fair price.

Every time I go there, I think surely I am going to pick something that disappoints, but I have yet to have that experience. The desserts are even more delicious than they are pretty and they are pretty. If that isn't enough to draw you in, the ambiance is perfect and the service is wonderful. The rest of the menu is great too, but I enjoy making it the last stop of the night for a glass of wine and a truly extraordinary dessert.
