I don't know if this had something to do with not knowing very much about vehicles (otherwise I'd be doing this stuff myself, wouldn't I?), but I went in just asking for a fuel filter replacement. I'd even brought my own filter that I purchased from AutoZone for under 10 bucks (which was the right filter, in case you're wondering). When they guy said that it was against their rules to use my part (wtf?), he brought out a 26 dollar filter that would be used. I was irritated, but went along with it. A few minutes later, I was told that some other stuff needed replacing immediately for my own safety, bringing my total costs from a little over a hundred bucks to almost 900 bucks. My husband had asked them to look over everything back in September, and according to him, the problems they insisted I had should've been noted at that time (before he deployed), so he believes that they were just ripping me off since he wasn't there.
