A good deal
I took some golfing classes at Palomar college a few years ago, and the lessons were held at Thunder Bird golf.
It's the most reasonably priced driving range in town. And students get a discount to boot.
You can rent clubs too, but I can't remember how much it costs. They have a good selection, but I suspect anyone good enough to appreciate it would have clubs of their own.
Service is okay. In fact, some times when it's not busy the staff will help you with your swing.
The one problem is that the range isn't kept in good shape. I think Thunder Bird golf is running a low budget operation. The grass is really ugly. The chipping range isn't well maintained either.
If you don't mind practicing at an ugly range, then this is a good place to go.
