Only one year contracts
I am working in San Francisco for the summer only, and also traveling very frequently for work, so it doens't make sense for me to have a membership at a gym here for now. However, Equinox is just across the street and I was hoping to be able to use it occasionally and pay for each visit. That would have been a great way to "test drive" the gym and consider getting a membership at my permanent location given I like the gym. I called Equinox and was told that getting a one year contract is my only option. I thought this membership policy is too rigid and wish club managers utilized a better judgement of the situation... Seems like a loss for both parties....

Great gym
Living in SF this summer in the financial district, wanted to join a reputable gym in the area...heard good things about equinox- very glad that I joined, even for only 3 months. It's a cool gym (in the old pacific coast stock exchange building..) and the staff has always been really friendly. I got a tier 2 trainer for the summer and SOO glad I did, she is very knowledgeable and I always looked forward to training with her- worth the price. I would recommend joining, especially if you want to get a good trainer. There's also a shop, cafe, spa, pool..

Awesome by fsnoles k. at InsiderPages
I've been a member for a couple months now, and I continue to be impressed with the service and accomodations. Equipment is clean and new, staff is helpfull and friendly, and I've never had to wait for anything. The price is a bit high, but as with everything in life, you get what you pay for.... and they're open 7 days a week now!

PROS: New, clean equipment. Friendly staff. Convenient location
CONS: No basketball/raquetball court or indoor track.

Equinox Gym by Carol Q. at InsiderPages
When Equinox first opened some several months ago, I recieved a free trial two week pass. I was very impressed with the facilities. All of the equipment was top notch. The staff members were very friendly and offered as much help as you needed. And I fell in love with their pool. Its wonderful. Even the locker rooms were neat and fresh smelling. It is convieniently located in the financial district for all those people that just do not have the time. The only reason that I did not join this gym is the price. It was way out of my price range. But if you can afford it, then more power to you.

Love it! by Christin A. at InsiderPages
This is a fabulous fitness center located in downtown SF - beautiful pool, Internet service, great staff, and good equipment. Overall, I'm super impressed. My only compa\laint is that it is not open on Sundays and so it is expensive if you like to work ou on the weekends for it to be shut down for an entire day. Other than that though, I have no complaints. It is a well-done place and an excellent location for people in the financial district (The Bay Club has always been a bit out of the way to really consider).

PROS: Beautiful Facilities, Nice Staff, Great Pool
CONS: Closed on Sundays
