Here is a break down of what went on during my install:
Almost immediately after the installer started the job, I noticed most of the plants installed were the incorrect size and that a lot of the material and plants were never installed. I estimated that approximately 40% of what I paid for was never installed and when I confronted the installer, I was told there was no way to adjust the bill. Example: I was charged for 15 cubic yards of soil and only 5-6 yards were installed which at a charged install price $115 per yard equates to almost $1,150 overcharge. The installer tried to get me to sign off on the install but I would not sign the form for him to get paid; but, in a surprise to me, the next week, I had been charged the full amount on my credit card. I immediately called Enhancescape and told them that fraudulent activities had occurred. I requested an audit of my job but came to find out that the people at Enhancescape are not trained to perform one; they appear to be strictly office people. I was even told by the sales manager, whom is suppose to be monitoring the vendors and reviewing contracts, that he could not tell the difference between and 3 or 5 gallon plant or what a cubic yard of soil is. They had to hire another company to come out to my house – this took TWO MONTHS and the results were that I was not only right but what was installed was done improperly and needs to be ripped out. To this day, no one from Enhancescape has set foot on my property to review my claims which absolutely dumbfounds me to what transpired on my property. They appear to be a company taking a cut of the profit without being able to monitor or a@!%s the actual work.
This is truly the worst business dealing I have ever been associated with. Every time I drive home and see my landscape I just shake my head knowing I have to rip it all out this spring. I believe my landscape was worth more prior to this dealing than it is now since I have to have all the improperly installed material excavated and disposed of. When one of your installers decides to make up his own rules and horrible things happen to your client…you would think you would want to make it right – instead I am currently filing a claim with the BBB. All I want is for my property to be returned to the state it was in prior to this business deal.
Additional items: 1) They said they screen their installers for the last 7 years - I called the Secretary of State’s Office and my installer had their corporation status revoked by the state for not paying taxes during the pervious year - which they told me was one of the worst things the state can do to a company since they can not do business during the time it was revoked. No way my installer had a clean or full 7 yrs of work experience like they say they check for. 2) We used their design service and paid $558.78 for a designer to come out and draw up a plan. What a waste of money considering what transpired and the fact they could not complete the job. 3) I believe this was one of the 1st jobs for the vendor working for Enhancescape and I do not believe they properly trained them or monitored the situation...it appears they just hired someone and turned him loose on me. 4) The installer brought in a sub-contractor and told me they were part of the approved program we were participating in – turns out the sub-contractor was a personal business acquaintance and had nothing to do with the program. All of the work performed by them has to be redone and Enhancescape accepts no responsibility for their vendor’s actions...I was suppose to know that I was being lied to by their vendor…unbelievable.
"I used the EnhanceScape service to design and landscape my front and back yards. The landscape architect spent several hours with me on a Saturday morning, and taking my plant preferences and general ideas into account, produced a beautiful, detailed hand-drawn to scale landscape plan. This plan was mine to keep. I then got bids on installation, and used the landscape company provided by the EnhanceScape service. Their bid was competitive, they were very professional, and did an excellent job. The installation took almost two weeks, during which time the landscapers were on the phone to me daily, consulting on every aspect of the installation. I was very pleased using this service, and would recommend it to everyone!"
