Excellent movers
Elephant Moving packed and moved my two bedroom condo. The movers were nice gentleman and worked quickly. I was amazed by how easily they moved heavy furniture. The final price came under what had been estimated. And I received a refund when I returned the packing boxes following the move. I've checked around and nobody else does that. There is no way to avoid the disruption in your life when moving, but this company made the moving part hassle free.

Horrible Moving Experience
I was thoroughly dissapointed by this moving company. First of all, I did not get a one hour notice call before the move to confirm that they would be there, so they charged me $75 for their waiting time. Secondly, the two movers took too long when all they had to do was move a one bedroom apartment. I had several boxes already packed, and only a few pieces of big furniture (queen size bed, sofa, tv stand, plasma tv, bed frame). From Reseda to Studio City, that move took 5.25 hours. They drove 10 miles/ hour and took too many breaks. The total cost was $514.75. After the move, I realized my Nikon SLR Camera was missing along with the other contents of that box including my snowboarding boots. My designer TV stand was badly damaged (many nicks in the wood) and one lamp was shattered.
All I got reimbursed for was $125... Don Tonty didn't even offer to take away the damaged TV stand which cost me around $800 at a designer furniture store. I yelled at him on the phone because I was quite upset for being treated so unfairly and he actually asked me if I was drunk??!! If this isn't the very epitome of unprofessionalism, I don't know what is.

I would totally offer pros if I could, but honestly there were absolutely nothing positive about Elephant Moving Company thus far.

A fine move! by George G. at InsiderPages
I packed all my own stuff for moving my two-bedroom apartment in West L.A. 75 miles north to a small house in the Tehachapis. Elephant did the moving, and they were just great! Don Tonty, the owner, made a well-priced estimate (I did not get any others), but the total cost as figured later by the job foreman was more than that; nevertheless, IN ACCORD WITH STATE LAW, all I was charged was the original price.

Tonty, by the way, is NOT English, as intimated in another review elsewhere on the Web. That honor goes to the guy who answers the phones, a fellow named Graham, who has a very pleasing personality.

Three people packed the truck and two of them drove the load to my new place and unloaded it all. I was surprised they were not furnished with a Mapquest map by Elephant, but Graham said they didn't have computer access in their office. Very unusual in this day and age! So be sure you can give accurate instructions if you are shipping out of L.A.!

They put everything where I wanted it in the new house and even moved a few heavy items from one room to another when I changed my mind. I gave both men a good $$ tip. (Elephant., by the way, has a straightforward page about tipping on its Web site -- well worth reading.)
