Attitude is everything for tattoo shops. No one really cares about a place if it’s quiet, boring or blank looking. But what kind of attitude are you looking for? One shop in PB has the heart of tattooing in it, a 2500 cc engine driving it and an eye for great art. 

Edgewater Tattoo found on Garnet Ave a little ways away from the crowded bars, has been open 11 years, which makes it a definite veteran among the shops around town. The place is owned and operated by IronHead Mike, a towering biker-artist with a great sense of humor and the artists are some of the most dedicated around. Mike mostly pierces and has the largest collection of jewelry around San Diego; there are nearly as many jewelry cases as tattoo art decorating the shop to admire. The artists there are also amazing at what they do and while the place may be a little more obscure compared to some other shops, they produce the same if not sometimes better work. All sorts of lifestyles come together here as well, creating an extremely quirky and friendly atmosphere.

he shop is definitely a tattoo and piercing shop in the front but after talking with Mike and getting a tour, there’s another side to add to the coolness. Mike has been an artist for most of his life; photos, painting, drawing, and now tattooing. His excellent paintings can be found all over the shop and it’s mostly geared towards motorcycles and hotrods...always cool. Bikers from various motorcycle clubs can be found cruising in and out of the shop but all get along. The main rule of the shop is: DON’T BE A JERK! A great rule that keeps the shop fun and free of negative vibes.
