Wonderful place to get a pet by Jewelz T. at InsiderPages
A year ago, we adopted a kitten from the Oakland SPCA. The volunteers were kind enough to let me handle and play with multiple kittens while I made my decision. I wanted to make sure that I brought home a cat who could thrive in our rowdy household of two dogs.

We ended up bringing home a wonderful black kitten, who immediately fit in.

We did have a period where Luna (name of our cat) would urinate on our down comforter (with us in it). We spoke to the Oakland SPCA and took Luna in for her free wellness check-up and ended up finding a solution to her bedwetting.

We've had her for a year and she is a wonderfully zany, affectionate, silly cat who fits in perfectly.

PROS: care of animals and loving staff and volunteers
CONS:

Great facility by Claus S. at InsiderPages
I loved going to the Oakland SPCA when I was looking to get cats. Their facilities are very nice and you can tell that the staff is really into working with animals. When I was looking for kittens they led me to a room that had about 10 of them to play with them for a little bit and see which ones I liked. Almost immediately one of them came to sit in my lap and another wanted to play with me... they must get treated very well to be so trusting and friendly with people. Needless to say I took them both home! :)

Super Place by Chris T. at InsiderPages
Everyone looking for a pet should goto the SPCA. The selection is great and it will save pet's lives. It's also way cheaper than going to a store and getting one. The Oakland SPCA is wonderful because you can tell that the people there really love what they're doing and they give the animals first class treatment. The selection is nice because they have everything, from cats, dogs, hampsters, rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. I go there on a regular basis just to check out what they have and to play with the pets.

PROS: Selection, it will save pet's lives
CONS: none

Incredible shelter by Stephanie G. at InsiderPages
I came here to get my first cat, and I was impressed by the facilities here. The shelter is very large and clean, with play areas for the animals. The animals are healthy and most of them are very friendly.

The staff is great and the adoption process is very simple. I would totally reccomend the Oakland shelter for anyone looking for a new family member to add!

PROS: Great shelter
CONS: A little hard to find
