Tried to price-gouge us!
We called for an estimate on sump pump repair on a day it was supposed to rain, so Mike Diamond Plumbing apparently thought they could make a lot of money that day by price gouging suckers. After attempting to charge us $272 for an estimate on our sump pump that they originally said would cost us $76, they then handed us an estimate for the work they claimed needed to be done on our sump pump. They said it needed $2690 worth of work, or, alternatively, we could pay $6275 and replace the entire thing. When we checked around to see if these prices were reasonable, we learned that the work they said needed to be done actually costs between $180 and $300 (at least a $2390 difference) and that a new sump pump actually costs around $1800, including labor (a difference of $4475). To top it all off, we didn't actually need any of these things - we were ultimately able to fix our sump pump (using another company, of course) for $125. After they heard we wouldn't be using their services, the tech from Mike Diamond then proceeded to call my husband's office and harass his assisant - apparently upset that we had figured out his plan to price-gouge us.

Good service but extortionate pricing
I had a leaking gas line a few weeks back and I called Mike Diamond. The person I spoke with was very professional. She sent a team out nearly immediately, and said that they could even start that day. I had very high hopes. Until I saw the "estimate," for which I paid $79 dollars. I had called my regular plumber before calling Mike Diamond, and, because he was too busy to do the work himself, he was gracious enough to give me an idea of what the work should have cost so that I didn't get ripped off. He explained that it could be a very easy fix, but if I needed my entire gas line replaced, I should expect to see an estimate of about $2000. Needless to say I was shocked when the Mike Diamond guys didn't bother looking to see if the quick fix was workable, told me that the entire gas line needed to go, and gave me an estimate of almost $10,000 (!!!!!!), which was after a "discount," but before permitting costs. I was so shocked that I muttered an "are you serious?" before telling them I would have to call other people before accepting such a ludicrously high "estimate." The other plumbers I spoke with all came in around $2000 for the large job, as my plumber had said, and mentioned the possibility of the minor fix. In the end, the problem ended up being minor, and we were able to fix it for $365, exclusive of permitting costs. The only way I would ever recommend these guys is if you had a real emergency that needed to be fixed immediately, and money was no object. But, you can probably find another plumber who will be there just as fast for half the money.

Mike Diamond Total rip off!
Quoted me $5,000 to replace my water heater. I'm not kidding. $5,000!!!! $5,000! Five THOUSAND dollars! For a water heater. I've had this job done twice before and the cost was at least five times LESS. I got the serviceman to admit part of the reason for their expensive service was "Our costly advertising."

Ripoff Plumber
Don't use this plumber unless you want to pay 10x what it should cost. I had a toilet water level control installed (a $20 part and 10 min of labor) and they charged me $460, are you freaking kidding me! Beware of these guys.
